Student Leadership Award Q&A: Rachel Allen

1. As you reflect on your student pharmacist experience thus far, what are some of your favorite memories?

My favorite memory as a student pharmacist has been serving as a vice-chair for the Operation Diabetes patient care initiative during my first year. Serving in this position combined my passions for nutrition, fitness, and motivational interviewing. I also served alongside one of my new best friends in the position!

1. As you reflect on your student pharmacist experience thus far, what are some of your favorite memories?

Some of my favorite memories as a student pharmacist often involved my experiences as an APhAASP member. I got to develop deep connections with so many awesome, like-minded individuals—some of whom are my closest friends in pharmacy school—and really delve into the profession head-on in way in which I can work alongside members of the community to give back and advocate for patients.

As you reflect on your student pharmacist experience thus far, what are some of your favorite memories?

When I reflect over the past couple of years, some of my favorite pharmacy school memories include volunteering at APhA–ASP health fairs throughout the state of West Virginia and dancing with my classmates at the Apothecary Ball (which is similar to a “Pharmacy Prom”).

Get to know your 2022–23 APhA–ASP National Executive Committee: Ron Levinson, Speaker of the House

I was born in New York but grew up in Tampa, FL. I’m proud to be a double Gator: I graduated from the University of Florida with a BS in Biochemistry in 2019 and decided to stick around Gainesville a little longer for pharmacy school. This is where I fell in love with APhA–ASP and first learned about my chapter’s Policy & Advocacy Committee. I quickly joined and later became my chapter’s policy vice president. Now I’m about to head off on my final-year rotations, and I’m excited to still be involved with APhA–ASP for another year.
