WASHINGTON, DC (September 27, 2023) – The American Pharmacists Association (APhA), the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), and the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) are pleased to share a new report including actions to implement solutions to improve pharmacy workplace conditions.

As pharmacists, we have a professional obligation through our Oath to consider the welfare of humanity and the relief of suffering as our primary concerns. We further commit to advocating for changes that improve patient care. Pharmacists who find themselves in situations where the welfare of others is in question should always pause, evaluate the situation, and take the steps necessary to ensure safe, optimal patient care. This is irrespective of the setting of care.

(Washington, DC) — Today, the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), in partnership with the American Pharmacists Association (APhA), released the following statement on establishing Pharmacy Workforce Suicide Awareness Day to be recognized annually on September 20 as part of September’s Suicide Prevention Month.

When one sector of our profession is being attacked in the media, our entire profession’s credibility is undermined. As the voice of the profession, it’s APhA’s responsibility to address these issues directly.

Washington, DC (August 25, 2023) — APhA appreciates FDA’s one-year delay for supply chain trading partners to comply with the final enhanced drug distribution security requirements under the Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DCSCA) that were scheduled to take effect on November 27, 2023.
