Get to know your 2024–2025 APhA–ASP National Executive Committee: Nicole Sandoval, national member-at-large

Nicole Sandoval is a final-year PharmD candidate at the University of Florida (UF) College of Pharmacy and a 2024–2025 APhA–ASP national member-at-large.

My journey with APhA–ASP started my first year of pharmacy school, when I was immediately drawn to the inclusivity it holds for all areas of pharmacy. Serving as UF APhA–ASP Chapter president and as the 2023 APhA Carl F. Emswiller summer intern at APhA headquarters in Washington, DC, expanded my horizons in association management and leadership and allowed me to work on various projects that are helping move the profession forward. Overall, my journey with APhA–ASP has been nothing short of impactful, and I’m so excited for the opportunity to continue on this journey!

Beyond wearing the white coat, I absolutely love exploring cities and trying new food and restaurants. As I was born and raised in Miami, the vibrant culture there shaped my love for city adventures and culinary explorations. When I’m craving a day to stay indoors, I love to relax with a good book from one of my favorite authors, Brené Brown, or set up the dining table for an at-home Painting with a Twist experience with my family.

There is so much to be thankful for and to look forward to this year. After 3 years of living away from my family, my heart is so happy to spend my last year of pharmacy school during APPEs back home with my family. Being elected to serve as one of the APhA–ASP national members-at-large, I’m truly looking forward to meeting more student pharmacists from across the country. I’m a big extrovert and love building relationships, so I always welcome meeting new people with open arms.

All in all, I’m grateful to be where I am today and truly look forward to what the future holds. Please say hi if you ever see me; I’d love to get to know you! And Go Gators!

Five questions for Nicole

1. What show are you currently binging?

Modern Family! I needed a new 20-minute show to watch during lunch, and this was perfect.

2. What bucket-list item do you want to check off before you graduate?
As a city gal, I’m drawn to visit famous cities! I would love to visit Chicago and spend some time exploring and trying new restaurants.

3. Who is the most interesting Disney character and why?

Genie from Aladdin. He has seen and lived through so much, I can only imagine the stories he has on people’s wishes.

4. Imagine you could teleport anywhere. Where would you go right now and why?

Italy. I have never traveled outside of the United States, so planning a trip to Europe is something I’d love to do with my family after graduation.

5. If you could invite any four famous people to a dinner party, who would they be?

Jesus Christ, J.R.R. Tolkien, Henry Cavill, and Gordon Ramsey to be our personal chef for the night!
