APhA announces results of 2023 Board elections

WASHINGTON, DC—Today the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) announced the election of Randy P. McDonough, BS, PharmD, MS, BCGP, BCPS, RPh, of Iowa City, IA, as 2024–2025 APhA president-elect. McDonough will succeed Alex C. Varkey, PharmD, MS, FAPhA, of Sugar Land, TX, to the office of APhA president on March 24, 2025, at the conclusion of the 2025 APhA Annual Meeting & Exposition in Nashville, TN.

APhA applauds HHS for extending most PREP Act authorities for pharmacy personnel until December 2024

Washington, DC - Today, the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) released the following statement in response to HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra’s issuance of the eleventh amendment to the declaration under the Public Readiness and Emergency Preparedness (PREP) Act for medical countermeasures that ensures certain pharmacy-provided COVID-19 vaccines and related health care services will continue through December 2024.
