RosannaRessing

Rosanna Ressing

Rosanna (Rosie) Ressing is a pharmacist in upstate NY. She has had a variety of experiences in different avenues of pharmacy with her most recent position as a pharmacist at Elizabethtown Community Hospital. Starting as a pharmacy technician at Eckerd Pharmacy in 2005, she quickly realized that pharmacy was the career path for her and pursued a PharmD degree at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. She spent her 2 pre-pharmacy years at the Albany campus and finished her degree at the Colchester campus in Vermont, graduating with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2013. During her time in pharmacy school, she struggled with substance use disorder (SUD), seeking outpatient treatment, but still graduating on time. She became a pharmacist for Rite Aid Pharmacy in 2013 and was quickly promoted to a Pharmacy Manager the following year. During this time, her SUD ramped up and it became obvious she needed to take time away from the profession. Following a short hiatus to focus on her mental and physical health, she secured a pharmacist position at a 503B outsourcing facility from 2020-2023. This allowed her to graduate from the NY Professional Assistance Program in 2022 following 2 years of professional monitoring. Since then, she has been a staunch advocate of supporting pharmacists in recovery and reducing stigma for patients suffering from mental health disorders or SUD. She is currently the Chair/Member-At-Large for the Communications team on the APhA Pain, Palliative Care, and SUD community.
