Sterile Compounding Review and Recertification Activities

APhA has partnered with the U.S. Pharmacopeia (USP), the organization responsible for setting standards for sterile compounding, to plan and develop a comprehensive, innovative and professional development program for the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) Specialty in Compounded Sterile Preparations Pharmacy. This program is designed to meet the needs of practitioners seeking a BCSCP designation or to provide recertification credit to those who have earned the credential.

Currently available Sterile Compounding Review activities

The exam prep materials below feature interactive activities, archived webinars, and several courses offered in conjunction with the US Pharmacopeia (USP). No BPS recertification credit is available for these review activities but you can obtain ACPE credit. Scroll down further for the BPS recertification activities.

Sterile Compounding 2021 Review Course

A 13 credit interactive review course centered around video demonstrations of proper compounding techniques designed to help prepare for the BCSCP certification exam. Other courses tell you what to do, we show you what to do.  

USP <797> Cleanroom Cleaning, Disinfection, and Maintenance Procedures: Exam Review

A 1 hour USP training on cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance of compounding cleanrooms designed to help prepare for the BCSCP exam. 

USP <797> Pharmaceutical Compounding — Sterile Preparations for Compounding Professionals: Exam Review

A 6.5 hour interactive exam prep course that describes the scope of USP <797> , responsibilities of compounders, the criteria for component selection, and facility requirements for sterile compounding.

USP <800> Hazardous Drugs — Handling in Healthcare Settings for Compounding Professionals: Exam Review

A 6.5 hour interactive exam prep course that describes the scope of USP <800> and outlines quality standards and responsibilities of personnel for handling hazardous.

USP <797> Sterile Preparations: Exam Review Webinars

A 6.5 hour review webinar designed to improve your knowledge in the implementation of USP <797> and help you prepare for the BPS Sterile Compounding certification exam.

Currently available Sterile Compounding Recertification activities

The recertification products below feature interactive activities, archived webinars, and several courses offered in conjunction with the US Pharmacopeia (USP). BCSCP recertification and ACPE credit is available upon successful completion of the corresponding exam for each activity. Per BPS requirements, only one opportunity to pass the exam is allowed.

This 1 hour comprehensive USP Institution Solution BCSCP recertification course will train Healthcare Personnel responsible in the cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance of compounding cleanrooms.
