As the student pharmacist community liaison for APhA’s Health-System Community, I’ve had the opportunity to connect with pharmacists, residents, and fellow students who share a passion for hospital and clinical pharmacy practice. Our community serves as a home base for students interested in everything from inpatient pharmacy and clinical decision making to leadership and innovation in the health-system space.

Nothing could have truly prepared me for the depth, community, and emotional power of what I experienced at the APhA Institute on Substance Use Disorders this past May.

In a profession that moves quickly, it’s easy to go into autopilot. But when you truly engage with the people in front of you—your classmates, colleagues, and patients—those are the moments that stick.
