Victoria Lyle is a second-year PharmD candidate at University at Buffalo The State University of New York School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences
Hello, everyone! I am overwhelmed with excitement and honored to serve as your 2022–23 APhA–ASP National President-elect.
I am a western New York native, born in Buffalo and raised in a suburb outside of the city called North Tonawanda. I graduated from Trocaire College in 2015 with my associate degree in applied science in radiologic technology. After working in the medical field for a few years as a “rad tech,” I had the overwhelming urge to pursue a career in pharmacy. In 2018, I started working as a pharmacy technician at a local CVS while still working as a rad tech at an orthopedic office. While balancing both jobs, I was finishing prepharmacy courses part-time at a community college. In 2020, I started my journey through pharmacy school; although the experience has had its difficulties, I have loved and appreciated every second of it.
I fell in love with APhA–ASP in October 2020 after attending my first Midyear Regional Meeting (MRM). Although the meeting was virtual, I left the meeting feeling inspired, motivated, and excited for my future within the organization. I loved how the organization made me feel so connected to student pharmacists across the country and capable of making a difference in the profession.
After attending that MRM, I decided to run for a regional position to increase my involvement within the organization. I was elected as Region 1 Regional Member-at-large, a position that gave me the opportunity to serve as a member of the APhA–ASP Reference Committee and as regional membership coordinator. I was also able to promote APhA–ASP’s patient care projects to the chapters within my region. As your APhA–ASP National President-elect, I am looking forward to collaborating with all APhA–ASP leaders to encourage student pharmacists to get involved with APhA–ASP and use this platform to make meaningful changes within our profession.
When my head isn’t buried in study materials for an upcoming exam, I really enjoy spending time with family and friends, whether that’s exploring a new restaurant, going on a walk near the waterfront, or watching Netflix. I love to journal and read and listen to music or podcasts. The newest edition to my bucket list is to travel to all 50 states, and I am looking forward to crossing some states off the list while serving on the National Executive Committee. After I graduate pharmacy school in 2024, I want to explore the world outside of the United States as much as I can.
