Olunife Akinmolayan is a third-year PharmD candidate at The University of Findlay College of Pharmacy.
Most people know me as “O,” but my full name is Oluwanifemi—which translates to “God loves me” in Yoruba. I am the eldest of three, with one sister and one brother, and parents who are Nigeran immigrants. My hometown is Aurora, IL.
My initial journey into APhA–ASP back in 2019 was somewhat unconventional, but I would not have had it any other way. Serving as chapter president-elect during my first year opened my eyes to the world of opportunities that reside within the profession of pharmacy and APhA. Through the years I have enjoyed creating projects, hosting events, and advocating for the profession both virtually and in-person.
In my free time, I enjoy learning about a range of different topics, like how to build new habits or skills, how companies were started, or how music is produced. Music is a big part of how I navigate the world, which is why love curating my own playlists and learning how to play multiple instruments. In the end, it’s Apple Music over Spotify—I’m open to debate. I also find myself spending a lot of my money on food, so I consider eating one of my favorite hobbies.
As an incoming national officer, my hope is to continue building upon the great initiatives that have laid the foundation for our academy. Through my unique perspectives and experiences, it is my belief that I can help ignite new energy within our membership through COMMCOMM as we forge the new normal. Most of all, I am looking forward to meeting as many student pharmacists I can over the next year, to be the best representative of their ideas, growth, and vision for the profession.
Five questions for “O”
1. What show are you currently binging?
Queen of the South. She’s a boss, bro.
2. What is your favorite song?
Very hard to choose one song. I’ve curated more than 20 different “Favorites” playlists, but my top song right now is “Time Flies” by Drake.
3. If you were shipwrecked on a deserted island, and all your survival needs were taken care of, what two items would you want to have with you?
A drum set, so I can play as loud as I want, and a hammock so I can chill in style.
4. What fictional family would you most like to join and why?
The Banks from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Aside from being able to live in Bel-Air, I think being a part of the Banks family would be fun and entertaining because every day is new adventure, but each adventure comes with a valuable lesson. I am excited to see the new reboot for the show!
5. What is your favorite meal?
Creamy garlic lobster alfredo… or anything seafood.
