  • Pass the national certification examination and retain their certification
Communication and Management Skills for the Pharmacy Technician helps pharmacy technicians develop professional communication and management skills that are critical to the efficient operation of the pharmacy.

Complete Math Review for the Pharmacy Technician, 4e is a friendly, self-instructional approach to lifelong understanding of pharmacy calculations.  Filled with real-world practice problems and the author’s good humor and encouragement, the book is a unique training resource, whether for the classroom, the national Pharmacy Technician Certification Examination, or the pharmacy practice setting.

The Complete Review for the Pharmacy Technician, 3e provides baseline knowledge for new community and health-system pharmacy technicians, an overview of important concepts for students entering technician education programs, and a concise and current review of practice-based issues for experienced technicians.  In addition, the text covers information needed to understand the knowledge areas in the new Pharmacy Technician Certification Examination (PTCE).  Based on the most recent PTCE content outline, the chapters span every subject area covered on the exam.

The completely revised 4th edition of the Pharmacy Technician Certification Quick-Study Guide thoroughly covers all PTCE content domains and conveys what technicians need to know in a concise outline format.

The Pharmacy Technician’s Introduction to Pharmacy provides an insider’s perspective on relevant topics such as government regulation, career pathways, membership organizations, and ethics, and it addresses how medication therapy management is changing the practice of pharmacy.

The Pharmacy Technician Skills-Building Manual, 2e is a practical, hands-on workbook that helps technicians understand the basics of pharmacy operations, equipment, and tasks. The 2nd edition has been expanded to 13 information-packed chapters that illuminate the activities and best practices technicians engage in every day. Each chapter contains carefully crafted lab exercises, discussion topics, and review questions. The book’s color photos and illustrations allow you to visualize important tools and concepts.

The Pharmacy Technician’s Pocket Drug Reference, 9e contains the five main pieces of drug information that a pharmacy technician seeks.  For each of about 1,300 of the most commonly prescribed drugs—including more than 100 drugs new to the market since the seventh edition—the book provides generic name (with pronunciation), trade name(s), therapeutic class, general FDA approved therapeutic use(s), and commercially available dosage forms/strengths.

The CPhT is the gold standard of credentialing for pharmacy technicians. PTCB® offers the CPhT certification to individuals who wish to distinguish themselves in the pharmacy technician field. PTCB’s certification program enables technicians to work more effectively with pharmacists to offer safe and effective patient care and service. Most employers prefer, and many require, that their pharmacy technicians be CPhTs.

CPhTs must complete a minimum of twenty (20) hours of continuing education (CE) during each two (2) year recertification cycle. Any CE hours earned after January 1, 2015 must be in pharmacy technician-specific subject matter. Complete requirements are located on PTCB’s web site.  APhA has the education options to fulfill your individual needs. All education is free to APhA members! Become an APhA member now.
