Get to know your 2026–2027 APhA–ASP National Executive Committee: Katie Gilmore, speaker of the house
Katie Gilmore is a final-year PharmD candidate at the University of Utah College of Pharmacy and is the 2026–2027 APhA–ASP speaker of the house.
Hi everyone! I am so excited to serve as your 2026–2027 APhA–ASP speaker of the house and to connect with such an incredible community. It is truly an honor and a dream to advocate for and work alongside student pharmacists across the nation.
I’m originally from a small town outside Colorado Springs, CO, and I grew up on a hobby farm surrounded by all kinds of animals. That environment shaped so much of who I am today. Growing up, I was convinced I would become a paleontologist, but that slowly changed when I started making “potions” from my mom’s shampoo and realized I might be meant for a different kind of science. I went on to earn my degree in bioveterinary science, driven by my lifelong love of animals.
My passion for advocacy started early and took off during pharmacy school. Getting involved in APhA–ASP during my second year as policy vice president, and later serving as the Region 7 regional delegate, showed me just how much impact student pharmacists can have. Those experiences helped me find my voice and step into leadership while connecting with students and professionals across the country.
As an extrovert, I love connecting with others, which is where my “woo” really shines. I love building relationships and bringing energy into everything I am part of, and that is a big reason why APhA has meant so much to me. It is a place where students feel supported, encouraged, and excited to grow.
APhA–ASP has been one of the most meaningful parts of my pharmacy school experience and has shaped how I see my role in this profession. I am so excited for the upcoming year to continue meeting more of you and helping contribute to our future!
