CDC modifies PCV13 recommendations for older adults

According to updated recommendations from CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), patients and vaccine providers, including pharmacists, should engage in shared clinical decision making when considering pneumococcal conjugate vaccination (PCV13) in persons aged 65 years and older who do not have an immunocompromising condition, cerebrospinal fluid leak, or cochlear implant and who have not previously received PCV13.

UGIB Guidelines

Group updates guidelines for managing nonvariceal upper GI bleed

The International Consensus Group recently updated the 2010 recommendations for managing nonvariceal upper GI bleeding (UGIB). The guidelines, which focus on resuscitation, assessment, bleed management, and secondary prophylaxis for recurrences, are presented as 15 statements with 38 corresponding recommendations based on the quality of evidence evaluated by voting participants.
