My advice:
“Be resilient, challenge yourself, and don’t be afraid to say yes to opportunities that push you outside your comfort zone, especially leadership opportunities. Some of the most meaningful career growth happens when you’re willing to think differently, step outside the traditional pharmacy box, and take on something you may not feel completely ready for. Keep showing up, creating value, and advocating for what pharmacists can contribute. Over time, that work gets noticed and can open doors you never anticipated.”

What's most rewarding?
“Entering higher education as a first-generation college student was a brand-new world, one that taught me the vital importance of building strong networks and saying yes to every open door. That early journey ignited a lifelong passion for learning that led me back to academia, where I spent two decades mentoring student pharmacists as they began their professional careers. Today, my focus is on sustaining that same curiosity and growth across a clinician’s entire professional life. The most rewarding aspect of my work is helping practitioners bridge the gap between emerging medical evidence and day-to-day patient care.”

My advice:
“My advice to student pharmacists and new practitioners is to lead with both your heart and your mind. Strong communication skills and genuine empathy are essential to building trust and providing exceptional patient care. Take time to understand your purpose and values and let them guide your decisions and actions throughout your career. Seek opportunities to contribute meaningfully in every role and experience. Most importantly, marry the opportunity, not the paycheck. Focus on growth, learning, and impact, and success will follow.”

What’s your impact?
“Transitions of care is a unique area of pharmacy practice that supports patients as they move between health care settings, often during some of their most vulnerable moments. My role combines clinical expertise, medication management, communication, and empathy to help prevent medication errors, avoidable readmissions, and other adverse outcomes. By guiding patients through complex care transitions, I help improve both their health care experience and their health outcomes. As a faculty member and professional leader, I also contribute to research and best practices that strengthen transitions of care and improve the health care system as a whole.”

What's most rewarding?
“The most rewarding aspect of my work is helping pharmacists and pharmacy technicians reach their full potential in serving patients. While I began my career focused on caring for individual patients, I have spent much of my professional journey supporting the professionals who deliver that care every day, allowing my impact to be multiplied many times over. Today, I work closely with independent community pharmacies, whose innovation, agility, and deep community connections continually inspire me. Supporting these teams through education, practice advancement, and new patient care opportunities ultimately helps improve access to care, strengthen community health, and advance the profession of pharmacy.”

What's most rewarding?
“The most rewarding aspect of my career has been supporting patients who come to me feeling frustrated by the health care system or anxious about their own care or that of a loved one. Being able to connect with them, answer their questions, help ensure they receive their medications in a timely manner, and provide clarity about their treatment plan and next steps allows me to make a meaningful difference during a challenging time.”

What's most rewarding?
“The most rewarding part of my work is serving America's Sons and Daughters, their families, and our retired military veterans, who put everything on the line to protect and serve the people of the United States. As a military pharmacist, I am proud to play a role in supporting their health, wellness, and readiness. Knowing that my work helps service members focus on their critical missions while providing peace of mind that their loved ones are cared for makes a meaningful difference and reinforces the importance of what we do every day.”
