Emily Scott is a third-year PharmD candidate at The University of Kansas School of Pharmacy and a 2026–2027 APhA–ASP member-at-large.
Hello, everyone! I am incredibly honored to be serving as one of your 2026–2027 national members-at-large. Thank you for putting your trust in me and giving me this opportunity to serve each of you as you continue to serve your communities and our profession.
I’m originally from a small town outside of Nashville, but I’ve also lived in Phoenix and Topeka, which is where I currently reside. All of these places I still call home, and together they have shaped me into the person I am today: a country music enthusiast, a lover of summertime, and a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan. I’m also a proud alumna of the University of Kansas Marching Jayhawks, where I played mellophone as a pre-pharmacy student and for 2 years of pharmacy school. I also enjoy playing games such as The Sims 4, Animal Crossing, and Stardew Valley.
I’m now finishing out my third year of pharmacy school, which is bittersweet. I’m looking forward to beginning my APPEs, but I’m going to miss seeing my friends that I’ve been with for the last 3 years!
My first experience with APhA–ASP was a local event that I was invited to as a pre-pharmacy student, and this was enough to motivate me to get involved in APhA–ASP immediately after starting pharmacy school. In May 2024, I attended the APhA Institute on Substance Use Disorders and had a unique opportunity to speak about my experiences during an APhA Board of Trustees meeting. This made me realize the impact that I could have as a student pharmacist and motivated me to expand my leadership beyond the chapter level. Within my chapter, I have served as the chair of Operation Substance Use Disorders and as vice president of patient care. Regionally, I served as the Region 6 midyear regional meeting coordinator, where I got to work alongside an amazing team of student leaders to plan MRM2026.
As I finish out my last year of pharmacy school serving an organization that has given so much to me, I am most excited about the opportunity to connect with student pharmacists across the country, whether that be on Chapter Outreach visits, conferences, or virtual meetings. I want to be a friendly and familiar face that helps every student pharmacist feel at home within our association, and I strive to be a force that empowers other student pharmacists to elevate their involvement, advocacy, and leadership.
Five questions for Emily
1. What show are you currently binging, and why do you like it?
When I have time, I love watching Gilmore Girls. The relationship between Rory and Lorelai reminds me a lot of the bond that I have with my mom.
2. What bucket list item do you want to check off before you graduate?
I really want to take a trip with my friend group from pharmacy school before we all graduate and go our separate ways.
3. If you had 25 hours a day, how would you spend your extra time?
If I had an extra hour every day, I would spend it practicing my French horn. I used to play in high school, while I was a pre-pharmacy student, and for the first 2 years of pharmacy school, and I don’t want to lose those skills I worked so hard to have.
4. Are you summer, fall, spring, or winter? Please share why.
I’m definitely a summer person. Because I used to live in Phoenix, I grew accustomed to heat and constant sunshine. I think I also love summer because I associate it with summer break!
5. What is your most used emoji and why do you like it?
My most used emoji is the “rolling on the floor laughing” (🤣) face. I love a good joke!
