APhA Statement on Changes to U.S. Preventive Services Task Force Leadership

Washington, DC  (May 22, 2026) — The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) is deeply concerned by the removal of the vice chairs of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF). For decades, USPSTF has served as a trusted, nonpartisan authority providing rigorous, evidence-based recommendations that guide preventive care and screenings across the health care system.

Pharmacists and other health care professionals rely on USPSTF guidance to deliver high-quality, patient-centered preventive services grounded in the best available science.

We stand firmly in support of preserving the integrity, independence, and scientific rigor of USPSTF and all institutions that safeguard public health through unbiased, evidence-based decision making.
