APhA–ASP Member Spotlight: Alexis Saladino

Meet Alexis Saladino, a final-year PharmD candidate at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy at Saint Joseph’s University. Alexis currently serves as her chapter’s liaison for the Delaware Pharmacists Association. Alexis is hoping to pursue a postdoctoral fellowship with a pharmaceutical company after graduation. We caught up with Alexis to learn about her and her passion for APhA–ASP.

Student Pharmacist Magazine (SPM): Can you tell us about your journey with APhA–ASP? Why did you choose to become a member, and why do you remain a member?
Saladino: I initially chose to become a member of APhA–ASP to make friends on campus. I was a transfer student from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. I did not know anyone on campus when I first arrived. APhA–ASP was a great way to meet people with the same motivations and interests as myself. I have remained an APhA member for the amazing networking opportunities and the heavy involvement in advocacy for the pharmacy profession.

SPM: What is your favorite APhA–ASP member benefit?
Saladino: My favorite member benefits are all the conferences and meetings. These conferences have connected me with some amazing individuals who are now mentors and lifelong friends.

SPM: What is your favorite APhA–ASP memory?
Saladino: My favorite memory is attending the 2024 APhA Institute on Substance Use Disorders. I hiked up a mountain in Utah with a group of student pharmacists from around the nation.

SPM: What is your go-to Starbucks order?
Saladino: My go-to Starbucks order is a large iced coffee with oat milk, in whatever seasonal flavor they are currently offering.

SPM: If you were a superhero, what power would you have?
Saladino: My superpower would be teleportation. I always get motion sickness when I travel, so teleportation would put an end to this issue. Plus, free travel!

SPM: After a long day of school or work, what do you like to do in the evening to unwind?
Saladino: After a long day of school and work, I usually go to the gym. I love weightlifting. Or I walk my dog, Peanut.
