A theme that resonates across every area of life

Brittney Patton is a third-year PharmD candidate at the Idaho State University L.S. Skaggs College of Pharmacy, Meridian Campus.

To me, APhA–ASP National President Rachel Lucky’s 2025–2026 theme, “Every Moment Matters: Celebrate, Cherish, Create,” is a simple yet powerful statement. This theme resonates deeply across every area of life: personally, academically, professionally, and through APhA–ASP.

Celebrate the little things

In your day-to-day lives, it’s easy to overlook the little victories or small moments of connection that truly shape you. But every quiz you finish, scholarship you apply for, project you complete, or every script you get through insurance, these moments matter. They are building blocks of something much larger. When you take time to celebrate the little things, you begin to understand the greater value behind them.

Cherish the connections

You must cherish the connections you make, the lessons you learn, and the unexpected paths you take. These experiences both big and small create the momentum that moves you forward. Together, they lead you to a future that you may have never imagined but one that is rich with purpose and progress.

Create the profession you want to see

As future pharmacists, you have a powerful opportunity to create the profession you want to see. Whatever may be lacking today, you have the power to build tomorrow. The future of pharmacy depends not on one grand event, but on countless intentional, everyday moments. Through time, effort, and passion, you can transform how care is delivered, how patients are treated, and how pharmacy is perceived, all because every moment matters.

Bringing the theme to life at my chapter

Personally, I’ve tried to live by this theme by embracing gratitude in every part of life. The good, the bad, and the stressful, they all serve a purpose. When viewed through this lens, even difficult moments become meaningful. They help me grow and provide a broader perspective, especially when things feel overwhelming.

As APhA–ASP Chapter president at Idaho State University’s Meridian campus, I plan to bring this theme to life throughout the entire year. From student emails and chapter events to small physical reminders on campus, I want this message to be seen and felt. I also want to carry it into the community, offering simple handouts at patient care events to reflect what “every moment matters” means to us as student pharmacists. When that perspective is shared with patients, it fosters a sense of purpose in every interaction.

I’d like to thank Rachel for inspiring APhA–ASP members with this year’s theme. Her leadership and heartfelt reminder of the importance of student pharmacists is incredibly motivating. She’s encouraged students to recognize the weight of our actions, no matter how small, and that will shape how we grow both as individuals and as a profession.
