This online program will guide pharmacists in handling uncertainty when making drug-related recommendations by considering the findings from current literature evidence. The program focuses on learning the principles and approaches used in evidence-based practice to assess patients’ medication needs, formulate and document patient care plans, and collaborate with other members of the health care team.

Program Learning Objectives:

At the completion of this program, participants will be able to:

• Generate focused clinical questions for therapeutic dilemmas.
• Answer clinical questions using current guidelines and summaries in the evidence-based medical literature.
• Evaluate the methodological quality of a study, describe and interpret study results, and apply results to an individual patient.
• Justify medication-related decisions using medical literature, patient and clinician information regarding values and preferences, and situational context and constraints.

Program Completion Requirements

To earn continuing pharmacy education (CPE) credit and/or a Certificate of Completion, participants must meet the following requirements:

• Complete five self-study modules, each of which consists of a presentation, a study to review, and an assessment.
• Receive a passing score of 70% or better on each assessment. Participants will have two opportunities to pass each assessment.
