CPE Monitor - General Information
What is CPE Monitor?
CPE Monitor is a national, collaborative effort by ACPE and the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) to provide an electronic system for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to track your completed continuing pharmacy education (CPE) credits. It offers state boards of pharmacy the opportunity to electronically authenticate the CPE units completed by their licensees, rather than requiring you to submit your proof of completion statements upon request or for random audits.
How it Works
Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians will receive a unique ID after setting up your e-profile with NABP. You will then need to provide your NABP e-Profile ID to each ACPE-accredited provider that you interact with. Each ACPE-accredited provider may have a unique way of collecting this information. The system will then direct electronic data from ACPE-accredited providers to ACPE and then to NABP, ensuring that CPE credit is officially verified by the provider. Once information is received by NABP, you will be able to log in to access information about your completed CPE.
In addition, boards of pharmacy will have the option of requesting reports on their licensees, eliminating the need for pharmacists and technicians to send paper copies of CPE statements of credit to the boards for CPE activities taken from ACPE-accredited providers.
If you are not a pharmacist or pharmacy technician, and you take an ACPE-accredited course, you can also set up an e-profile with NABP and obtain a unique ID. Please be sure that you submit this ID to the education provider of the ACPE-accredited course. This will allow you to print out any transcripts of CPE from these courses, and submit them to your respective board.
Benefiting Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians
CPE Monitor provides a secure, central system that maintains and tracks all ACPE-accredited continuing education credits. For you, think of this as your national transcript that gets populated by the ACPE-accredited providers. This streamlined process will eliminate the need to file and maintain hard copy statements of credit for CPE activities taken from ACPE-accredited providers. Instead, online access to your inventory of completed credits will allow you to easily monitor your compliance with the CPE requirements of the state or states where you hold a license or registration. Licensees of participating boards will no longer have to mail hard copy proof of CPE statements of credit to those boards.
For added convenience, the NABP e-Profile is available 24/7 for pharmacists and technicians to view a comprehensive list of the CPE courses you have taken. Plus, as an extra benefit, since April 2012, pharmacists and technicians are able to record detailed career information relating to education or work history in their e-Profile, which should streamline the license transfer process.
All information will be maintained in a highly secure environment. NABP does not distribute any personal information for commercial purposes without consent.
Assisting State Boards
This program’s central repository of CPE information enables efficient verification of a pharmacist’s or pharmacy technician’s completed CPE upon board request. It may reduce the need to conduct state-based audits of board licensees. State boards of pharmacy that participate in the program will be able to use this tool to assist them in ensuring that pharmacists and pharmacy technicians have completed state-mandated CPE requirements for re-licensure, re-certification, or re-registration.
Please be aware that it is NOT a requirement for state boards of pharmacy to use this program. IF your state does not use CPE Monitor and you are requested to provide hard copies of statements of credits, that information will be able to be printed from your CPE Monitor profile.
