Walgreens is joining The Skin Cancer Foundation on its Destination: Healthy Skin Program, a nationwide tour to educate consumers about the importance of effective sun protection for skin cancer prevention and the importance of early detection. During the tour, consumers will be able to enter a customized RV with private exam rooms where dermatologists will provide free skin cancer screenings and share tips on how to stay skin-safe. Between 2009 and 2019, the number of new invasive melanoma cases diagnosed annually increased by 54%, and it is estimated that the number of new melanoma cases diagnosed in 2019 will increase by 7.7%. However, Rachel Nazarian, MD, a dermatologist at Schweiger Dermatology Group, noted that when skin cancer is found and removed early, there is a higher probability of a cure. As part of the campaign, Walgreens held a summer skin care event at Milk Studios in New York City in which attendees had the opportunity to learn about Walgreens SPF 50 Sunscreen. The event helped launch what Walgreens' Crystal Fouchard described as an ideal bridge between beauty and health as Walgreens continues to become more of a health and wellness destination.
