Consumers in Oregon can safely dispose of unwanted or unused prescriptions at no cost through a Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon and Walgreens partnership. The medication disposal kiosks, which are meant to prevent unused opioids from being misused, are located at nine Walgreens locations throughout the state. The expansion is a joint effort by AmerisourceBergen, Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, Pfizer, Prime Therapeutics, and Walgreens to increase safe medication disposal sites to an additional 900 Walgreens pharmacies across the country. When the expansion is complete, drug disposal kiosks will be available in about 1,500 Walgreens locations nationwide.
