In response to the rise in abuse of prescription-controlled medications, Bartell Drugs has announced new measures to promote controlled substance safety. Beginning this month, Bartell's announced that all 67 locations are now participating in the Washington state secure drug take-back program, which is meant to help with the safe disposal of leftover and expired prescriptions. In addition to abiding by federal controlled substance policies, Bartell's has also taken steps to discontinue sales of promethazine codeine at all pharmacies.
