Walgreens president Richard Ashworth is stepping down from his position to become the president and CEO of Tivity Health, a provider of fitness, nutrition, and social engagement solutions. Ashworth has been with Walgreens in various roles since 1992. According to a company spokesperson, Walgreens Boots Alliance co-COO Alex Gourlay will take over leadership of Walgreens. Gourlay had been serving in the dual role until Ashworth was appointed Walgreens president earlier this year. Ashworth's work has included developing the health care strategy for Walgreens' partnership with Alliance Boots before it was acquired, and throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, he has been a public face for the company, even appearing on "Good Morning America" to discuss testing for the virus.
