Albertsons Cos. now offers 1- to 2-hour prescription drug delivery services in some markets of Texas, California, Louisiana, and Washington, DC. In conjunction with medication delivery platform ScriptDrop, Albertsons is providing the service at Albertsons and Tom Thumb pharmacies in Dallas-Fort Worth; Randalls pharmacies in Austin and Houston; Safeway pharmacies in San Jose, CA, and Washington, DC; and Albertsons pharmacies in Louisiana. Pharmacy patients can add OTC medicines to their prescription delivery orders as well, Albertsons says. The company intends to roll out 1- to 2-hour prescription delivery service to more markets over the coming year. ScriptDrop offers on-demand delivery by linking retailers’ existing pharmacy workflow systems to a network of couriers. ScriptDrop says its drivers are specially trained and HIPAA-compliant, and use an app that monitors their progress and sends patients text updates of their prescription delivery. Patients are required to sign for prescriptions upon delivery. Meanwhile, Albertsons Companies Specialty Care is using AssistRx's iAssist to give patients and health providers faster access to specialty pharmacy services support, including prior authorization requests and enrollment in support programs.
