Trump proposals could increase health costs for consumers
A new Trump administration policy proposal to be published this week in the Federal Register could result in higher costs for consumers who use brand-name prescription drugs when cheaper alternatives are available. Health insurance plans sold under the Affordable Care Act would have annual limits on consumers' out-of-pocket costs.
Drugmakers raise prices amid shortages, recalls
Drug manufacturers have sharply increased prices of some older, low-cost prescription medicines amid supply shortages and recalls. For example, at least three sellers of the widely used blood-pressure medication valsartan have raised prices since a series of safety-related recalls of the drug by other manufacturers began in the summer of 2018.

American Pharmacists Association Announces Recipients of 2019 Professionwide Awards
The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) today announced the selection of recipients of the Professionwide Awards as part of the 2019 APhA Awards and Honors Program. Honorees will be officially recognized at the APhA Annual Meeting & Exposition in Seattle, March 22–25, 2019. The APhA Awards and Honors Program is the most comprehensive recognition program in the profession of pharmacy.

APhA–APPM Announces 2019 Special Interest Groups Election Slate
The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Academy of Pharmacy Practice & Management (APhA–APPM) today announced the Special Interest Groups (SIGs) election slate for the 2019 APhA Elections. The APhA–APPM SIGs are member-driven groups focused on key areas of interest. Eight of the current 10 SIGs will hold an election in 2019.
