APhA’s one-on-one mentor program for pharmacists pairs individuals seeking to learn more about key pharmacy interest areas with others who have identified those topics as areas of expertise. Participants are able to search for mentors/mentees on a new online platform and reach out to setup time to connect and learn from each other. The program aims to spark quick interactions between APhA pharmacist members that can grow into deeper professional connections. Enrollment for the September-December cohort is now closed. Enrollment will open in November for the January-March cohort. Mentor 360: Professional Connections is an APhA members-only benefit and is free for any pharmacist member who would like to participate. Student Pharmacists are not eligible for this program.
APhA’s group-based mentor program focuses on bringing pharmacists together to fuel innovation and progress toward advancing pharmacy practice. Practice Collaboratives bring together a 2–4 person panel of experts on a defined topic area to serve as mentors to a small cohort of pharmacists (10–20 people) interested in learning and refining their pharmacy practice in the given topic area. Interactions between the cohort and experts will occur virtually via webinars and a closed community on the APhA ENGAGE platform where mentors can share their tips for advancing practice and pharmacist participants can ask questions to help break down barriers to their successful implementation. In 2017, three initial Practice Collaboratives will form to focus on defined components of precepting, collaborative practice agreements, and MTM. The collaborative practice agreements cohort is now full. Please complete the interest form if you would like to participate in the precepting or MTM offerings as either a mentor or mentee.
How and when do I sign up?
Mentors and mentees have a designated window to sign up and be matched. It only takes 5 minutes to complete the online application form in its entirety. See application dates above. During the application process, mentees can view the mentors available and reach out via email (outside the system) to find out if there is a mutual interest. We do our best to accommodate everyone.
Do I need to be an APhA Member to participate?
Yes, you must be an active member of APhA to participate in the APhA Mentor360. Please note that student pharmacists are not eligible for the program. Not a member? Visit www.pharmacist.com/join to learn more about our benefits and to join.
What can I expect from participating?
At the start of your mentor match you join a kick off call and one call at the two month mark and a final call at the end of your mentorship match. Mentees will complete a form upfront to use as way to focus the mentorship period. We recommend mentors and mentees spend one hour connecting each month.
Does my match have to be local?
No, you can be matched with a member from across the globe. Just find your preferred communication method -- phone, Skype, email, or whatever you like.
