Walmart announced Thursday plans to close 63 Sam's Club locations across the United States. Some of the stores were set to close as early as Thursday, according to a company spokesperson. As many as a dozen of the closed stores could be converted to e-commerce facilities, the spokesperson said. The first conversion is already planned for a location in Memphis. News of the closings started to appears in local media outlets around the country amid complaints from customers and employees, some of whom reportedly received no advanced notification of the closings. In response to a question about picking up a prescription from a closing store, the Sam's Club Twitter account said: "Pharmacies will stay open for at least 2 weeks, and we will work with each state's Board of Pharmacy to help guide this transition."
