APhA membership provides you with a comprehensive package of
professional and career development resources. And to ease the
transition from student pharmacist to working professional, APhA
developed the New Practitioner Network, which offers reduced APhA dues,
products, and services to assist pharmacists within their first three
years of graduation from pharmacy school.
Pharmacy News and Developments
JAPhA – The
Journal of the American Pharmacists Association, the official
peer-review journal of APhA, provides members with information on
pharmaceutical care, drug therapy, diseases and other health issues,
trends in pharmacy practice and therapeutics, informed opinion, and
original research. A subscription to the Journal of the American
Pharmacists Association is a benefit of APhA membership; however,
members may select a subscription to either the Journal of the
American Pharmacists Association or Journal of Pharmaceutical
Sciences.
Journal of
Pharmaceutical Sciences – This journal focuses on two
major questions of importance to pharmaceutical scientists: (1) What are
the physical and biological barriers that limit the access of drugs to
their therapeutic targets and (2) How can drugs, dosage forms, and
delivery systems be designed to maximize therapeutic efficacy? A
subscription to the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences is a
benefit of APhA membership; however, members may select a subscription
to either Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences or the Journal of
the American Pharmacists Association.
Pharmacy
Today – The monthly medication therapy management (MTM)
magazine from APhA offering readers profiles of practices that employ
unique MTM techniques to effectively serve their patients. Readers can
use these profiles as models to develop and improve their own MTM
practice, increase patient adherence and build patient loyalty.
Transitions –
Published exclusively for members of the APhA New Practitioner Network,
this quarterly newsletter contains information that focuses on your life
outside of pharmacy practice, but also provides guidance in various
areas of professional and practice development.
Transitions Express – This
e-newsletter provides the latest news from APhA, updates on membership
benefits, and highlights important dates, deadlines, and reminders.

Professional Development and Networking Resources
Members are asked to participate in one of three APhA Academies:
1. APhA Academy
of Pharmacy Practice and Management (APhA-APPM) – This
academy promotes the professional practice interests of its members,
establishes programs and activities serving the pharmacy practitioner,
and provides a means for its members to participate in APhA’s
policy-making process. APhA-APPM members are often asked to represent
APhA at meetings related to pharmacy practice and management.
2. APhA Academy of
Pharmaceutical Research and Science (APhA-APRS) – The
goal of this academy is to foster learning and achievement in the
pharmaceutical sciences and to stimulate the development and application
of outcomes research related to pharmaceutical products and services.
Academy members are a source of authoritative information on key
scientific issues. The Academy provides a mechanism for experts in all
areas of the pharmaceutical sciences to influence APhA’s
policymaking process.
3. APhA
Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) – Student
pharmacists may become members of APhA by joining through their local
APhA-ASP chapter.
APhA
Contributed Papers Program – The APhA2009 Contributed
Papers Program seeks to challenge practitioners, researchers, and
students by providing them a forum in which to share practice
information, disseminate research findings and educate fellow
colleagues.
Proactive Advocacy
for Pharmacy – APhA members have an opportunity to invest
in the future of pharmacy through the power of membership, which is a
force strong enough to shape the future.
APhA Annual Meeting and
Exposition – APhA2009 will be held in San Antonio, TX

collaborations, network with APhA members who are also leaders in
