The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is a federal agency
within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that administers
the Medicare program and works in partnership with State governments to
administer Medicaid, the State Children’s Health Insurance Program
(SCHIP), and health insurance portability standards.

(HHS)
The Department of Health and Human Services is the United States
government's principal agency for protecting the health of all Americans
and providing essential human services. Agencies that fall under HHS
include: Administration for Children and Families, Administration on
Aging, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, Agency for Toxic
Substances and Disease Registry, Centers for Disease Control and

Enforcement Administration (DEA)
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) enforces the controlled
substances laws and regulations of the United States. The DEA also
recommends and supports non-enforcement programs aimed at reducing the
availability of illicit controlled substances on the domestic and
international markets.

Administration (FDA)
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is a federal agency within the
United States Department of Health and Human Services and is responsible
for regulating food, dietary supplements, drugs, biological medical
products, blood products, medical devices, radiation-emitting devices,
veterinary products, and cosmetics in the United States.

of Inspector General (OIG)
The Office of Inspector General (OIG) protects the integrity of
Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) programs, as well as the
health and welfare of the beneficiaries of those programs. The OIG has a
responsibility to report both to the Secretary and to the Congress
program and management problems and recommendations to correct them.
