›› Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is a federal agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that administers the Medicare program and works in partnership with State governments to administer Medicaid, the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), and health insurance portability standards.

›› Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)
The Department of Health and Human Services is the United States government's principal agency for protecting the health of all Americans and providing essential human services. Agencies that fall under HHS include: Administration for Children and Families, Administration on Aging, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Food and Drug Administration, Health Resources and Services Administration, Indian Health Service, National Institutes of Health, and Substance abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

›› Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) enforces the controlled substances laws and regulations of the United States. The DEA also recommends and supports non-enforcement programs aimed at reducing the availability of illicit controlled substances on the domestic and international markets.

›› Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is a federal agency within the United States Department of Health and Human Services and is responsible for regulating food, dietary supplements, drugs, biological medical products, blood products, medical devices, radiation-emitting devices, veterinary products, and cosmetics in the United States.

›› Office of Inspector General (OIG)
The Office of Inspector General (OIG) protects the integrity of Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) programs, as well as the health and welfare of the beneficiaries of those programs. The OIG has a responsibility to report both to the Secretary and to the Congress program and management problems and recommendations to correct them.

›› THOMAS
THOMAS is the Library of Congress’ Internet-based resource on Congress and   federal legislative information. The web site offers: bill text, resolution text, information on activities in Congress, Congressional Record, schedules, calendars, committee information, government resources, and more.

›› United States House of Representatives
The U.S. House of Representatives is one of the two chambers of Congress; the other is the Senate. The total number of members in the House is currently fixed at 435. Each representative serves a two year term and may be re-elected an unlimited number of times. ›› United States Senate
The U.S. Senate is one of the two chambers of Congress; the other is the House of Representatives. In the Senate, each state is represented by two members, with the total body equaling 100. ›› United States Government Accountability Office (GAO)
The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) supports Congress in meeting its constitutional responsibilities.  GAO’s work includes oversight of federal programs; insight into ways to make government more efficient, effective, ethical and equitable; and foresight of long-term trends and challenges.
