In the May/June 2009 issue of JAPhA, an interesting article on Medicare Part D Medication Therapy Management (MTM) services was co-authored by one of our fellow new practitioners, Hoai-An Truong, PharmD. A few years ago, APhA and NACDS developed a set of core components for MTM services. In this project, faculty from the University of Maryland and a community pharmacy chain collaborated to determine patients’ perceptions and expectations of MTM’s core components and develop educational strategies and outreach to improve knowledge of MTM and pharmacist services.
