Student Professionalism Assessment
Description of activity
Valid and reliable assessment tools should be developed that evaluate
professional behaviors as well as a student’s knowledge and
skills. Evaluation should extend beyond the acquisition of knowledge by
students to professionalization and the application of knowledge and
skills in the care of patients in improving medication use. The college
or school should insure the professionalization of its students
throughout the educational continuum. As part of the assessment process,
an institution may conduct a survey of graduating students.
Rationale
To ensure faculty and students are engaging in the most effective
professionalism activities, the institution must annually assess the
value of each related program and policy, and its impact on students,
faculty, curriculum, culture, etc.
