Careers in Pharmacy

Alternative Careers

There are many non-traditional career paths available to pharmacists, for example, association management, the insurance industry, or regulatory agencies. These positions have little patient or medication-use contact.

These career options involve similar responsibilities and challenges, such as representing pharmacy to other health care professionals, the government, and consumer organizations. This challenge, however, is also an opportunity to affect the direction and practice of pharmacy.

Pharmacists in these areas generally provide technical expertise on pharmacy practice, using their experience and background to explain the practice of pharmacy to people with limited knowledge of pharmacy and other health care areas.
