APhA Good Government Student Pharmacist-of-the-Year Award
2012 Recipient

Kyle J. Hampson, Duquesne University
Kyle was selected in recognition of his advocacy for the pharmacy profession and work to raise student awareness of legislative issues affecting pharmacy practice. Hampson is a 2012 PharmD candidate at Duquesne University. Hampson has played a significant role in raising awareness and gaining support for pharmacy issues among students. By organizing letter-writing campaigns, he has contributed to recent legislative successes for pharmacy in Pennsylvania, including the establishment of collaborative practice and immunization abilities for pharmacists. In addition, Hampson has established student fundraisers for the political action committee of the Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association and met with legislators to personally advocate for pharmacy issues. He is currently working with other students to expand immunization abilities for pharmacists and student pharmacists in Pennsylvania. In the future, Hampson hopes to continue to advocate for the pharmacy profession and pursue interests in public health and law.
