Procter & Gamble Provides Support for Media
Center in New APhA Headquarters
Media Center to highlight the role of the pharmacist
in public education
WASHINGTON, DC – The American Pharmacists
Association (APhA) Foundation is pleased to announce a contribution from
Procter & Gamble (P&G) for the development of a "Media Center"
that will be part of the expanded and renovated APhA headquarters
building in Washington, D.C. The new building is currently under
construction and is scheduled for completion in 2009.
"This gift to our capital campaign will allow APhA to better use
technology to highlight the work of pharmacists whose efforts are
shaping the future of medication use and the healthcare of this
country," said William Ellis, CEO and Executive Director, APhA
Foundation.
The Media Center will support various APhA communication functions
such as media interviews, video production, and new conferences. The
content developed using the Media Center may include, interviews with
association leaders, author commentary on pharmacy publications and
demonstrations of techniques critical to patient counseling or the
proper use of medications.
"P&G recognizes the important role of pharmacists in educating
the public about their medicines. We are delighted to support APhA and
their future media outreach efforts with this new Media Center," said
Tim Brown, P&G General Manager of North America Personal Health.
Located on the first floor of the new 300,000 square-foot building,
the Media Center will be used for various media outreach activities. The
layout and technology capabilities of the space are under the
supervision of Lehman-Smith-McLeish, a Washington, DC-based design firm
whose clients include the Gannett Company/USA Today, The World Bank and
Samsung Electronics, among others.
