Chapter Committees
Committees are the backbone of a successful chapter. The number of
committees varies greatly by school. Quantity is not important. What is
important to consider is how many committees are necessary to accomplish
the goals and objectives your chapter has set. For more information, see

APhA-ASP chapters usually have the following committees:
Membership Committee
Plans and executes membership recruitment campaigns throughout the year
under the direction of the Membership Vice President. Promotes APhA ASP
and the importance of involvement in professional organizations.
Promotes continued involvement in APhA after graduation.
Operation Diabetes Committee
Plans and organizes the chapter’s Operation Diabetes Campaign.

Operation Immunization Committee
Plans and organizes the chapter’s Operation Immunization Campaign.

Heartburn Awareness Challenge
Plans and organizes the chapter’s Heartburn Awareness Challenge

National Patient Counseling Competition (NPCC)
Committee
Promotes and organizes the APhA National Patient Counseling Competition
on the chapter level.
Policy Committee
Gives students the opportunity to voice ideas and concerns and to
develop proposals for future consideration for APhA and APhA ASP
policy.
Legislative Committee
Assists SPIN coordinator in providing information for student
involvement in the legislative process and its effect on the pharmacy
profession. Monitors information on the APhA Legislative Action Center
at www.aphanet.org. Organizes, when necessary, the chapter’s
activities regarding specific APhA Call to Action items provided in the
APhA Legislative and Regulatory Update sent to all SPIN
Coordinators.
Fundraising Committee
Plans and executes programs to create revenue for the chapter. Assists
Treasurer with chapter financial reporting requirements when needed.
Planning Committee
Plans activities for the upcoming year and develops proposals for new
programs based on the needs of the community
IPSF Committee
Works to set up student exchange sites in their own area and assists
students who wish to participate in student exchange (See Chapter 6)
Travel Committee
Organizes accommodations and transportation for chapter members
attending APhA meetings.
Communications and Publications Committee
Works with Chapter Historian/Publicist to maintain a chapter
communication through a chapter newsletter, website, bulletin board,
etc. Provides information and coordinates publications for the chapter,
state, regional, and national associations.
