Hold a community event. Be sure to publicize your
event, such as a health fair or an immunization clinic at least four
weeks in advance with notices at libraries and grocery stores and
announcements in local papers. Remember to take pictures of your events
and share your success with the community. Also please share photos of
your event by sending them to aphm@aphanet.org.
The Virginia Pharmacists
Association and the Virginia Society of Health-Systems
Pharmacists will be distributing an APhM supplement in the
Sunday Richmond Times-Dispatch the first Sunday in October. Virginia
pharmacists are encouraged to advertise their pharmacy or contribute
articles of interest to the general public in the supplement. For
more information, contact Tim Musselman at tim@vapharmacy.org or by phone at

Pharmacist Rick Hansen, RPh, of Greer, SC,
has developed a Web site, SCPharmacist.com, to assist
his patients in obtaining unbiased and valuable resources in an effort
to promote better health. In October, Rick will further leverage his Web
site to his patients as part of his APhM celebration. Rick's Web
site is just one example of the many ways that you can celebrate APhM
and enhance the image of the pharmacist as the medication specialist and
a valued member of the healthcare team. To date, he has received
numerous heart felt appreciations from his patients for providing
important information, guidance and cost saving prescription discount
cards to those in need.
The State of Alabama recently declared
October to be American Pharmacists Month. Encourage
your elected representatives—mayors, city managers, county
executives and state governors—to designate October as American
Pharmacists Month.
Don't forget to tell us about your celebration plans!
Send email and photos to APhM@aphanet.org. Photos may be
included in this year's celebration photo gallery.
